Asus is best known for its excellent motherboards and graphic cards, but the Taiwanese company also makes excellent laptops. One of Asus’ most known notebook models is the ZenBook, the thing ultrabook series that always gave the best hardware, top quality build materials, and excellent displays. The latest model of the series, the Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe, was shown earlier this year at CES and Computex, but it was for eyes only. The company announced it will go on sale during Q2, 2017, and not the laptop is finally available for purchase.
The ZenBook 3 Deluxe is characterized by its modern design, pushing boundaries of how thin a notebook can while still offering excellent hardware. It’s just 12.9 mm thick and weighs in just over 1 kg. You can carry the laptop in your arms without problems like it was just a tablet. The design doesn’t stop here because Asus decided to brighten the mood by offering the model in interesting color choices.
When we look at today’s convertibles they all feature different shades of gray, with just a few manufacturers trying to turn things over, like Microsoft did with its Surface Pro line. Asus managed to stir things up by offering the ZenBook 3 Deluxe in a combination of gold and dark gray (Quartz Grey), in blue and gold combo dubbed Royal Blue that looks stunning, and in lately very popular Rose Gold. The company didn’t stop just on chassis, the keyboard is also gold-accented, and again the combination of the blue and gold keyboard looks strikingly attractive. The keyboard is backlit and provides high comfort while typing.
The body is made out of a single block of anodized, aerospace-grade aluminum and is extremely tough. The bright body finish is the result of a 40-step process during which the chassis is polished with ultra-fine abrasive. Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe features a 14-inch display inside a 13-inch body thanks to its NanoEdge Display featuring thin bezels. The screen covers 100 percent of sRGB color gamut and offers 1000:1 contrast ratio. The display features Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) protected by 0.55mm thick Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 and although the resolution may seem humble when compared to the Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, or a new MacBook Pro, it is perfect for a 14-inch device.
Other specs include Intel seventh-generation Core i7 processor, 512GB of SSD storage, 16 GB of RAM, two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, and one USB 3.1 USB-C port. The laptop runs Windows 10 Pro. The laptop is perfect for professionals who want to have a thin and light laptop that’s highly mobile but at the same time doesn’t sacrifice power for mobility. The battery can offer up to 9 hours of life per one charge, and since it supports fast charging, you can charge the battery from zero to sixty percent in just 49 minutes.
The convertible is available for purchase starting today on Asus’ website, Newegg, Amazon, and B&H for $1,699. While a bit expensive, it will provide its owners with striking design, powerful hardware, tough chassis, bright and sharp display, and a huge battery life.
