After nearly three years of break, a well known American brand Gregory Mountain Products (Gregory Packs) announces an update of their skiing backpacks for 2016. The updated backpacks will have the trade name of Targhee. Initially, the updated line of Targhee backpacks will be available for purchase closer to December 2016. It will come in three volumes-26, 32 and 45 liters.
Regardless of the volume, the new backpacks are made predominantly of nylon and polyester, including a rip-stop reinforcing. The overall density of the materials is not more than 160 (polyester rip-stop), 210, 420 and 630 denier. The denser material is used to reinforce the bottom and sides. Materials have been treated with water-repellent cover. To create a comfortable ergonomic back support, the backpack uses rigid polymer sheet and foam. The version of 45 liters also uses aluminum arch support.
The main features of the new Gregory Targhee 2016 lineup includes the provision of insulated cover for drinking system, fully removable mounting for a helmet, universal mount for ski or snowboard, reinforced fixing by ice axes, as well as a special frontal compartment for equipment associated with avalanches. It uses Gregory’s Verteflex suspension for load transfer, torsional flexibility and range of motions while skiing.
Sales of the updated skiing backpacks will begin in the coming weeks. The 26-liter version is estimated at $ 150, custom backpacks on a 32 or 45 liters would cost a minimum of $190 and $210 respectively. There are four colors to choose from – Vapor Blue, Patrol Black, Navy Blue and Solar Yellow.
