Well-known shoe brand New Balance decided to continue the development of its collection of electronic devices for sports. The brand announced a new line of smart watches, designed primarily for running. New Balance RunIQ, operates on the basis of Android Wear 2.0 operating system with a hardware from Intel and Strava.
Taking closer look at the watch, we can see that New Balance RunIQ is made with polymer sealed housing. The watchis water resistant in level of 5 ATM (50 m). It has an elastic silicone strap and 1.39-inch touch-Amoled display. The wearable features Intel Z34XX processor, 512 Mb RAM, a 4 Gb flash memory. Besides, there is a GPS (GPS / GLONASS) module for tracking location. It works with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Like the recent Suunto wearable, the watch features heart rate sensor.
Coming to batteries, it works on lithium-ion battery which lasts for 24 hours in the smart-watch mode. The smart watch mode includes display of time and date, Android Wear application, data synchronization and working with smartphone applications and daily activity tracking. When GPS device with heart rate sensor is activated, the batteries last for 5 hours.
Sales of New Balance RunIQ should definitely start in early February 2017, the estimated retail price is about $ 300.
