eBike market is growing daily, as you probably have noticed. There are more and more electrically powered bicycle models, but they all have one problem. They are quite bulky and even foldable models have to be carried around in your arms. But what if we told you there’s an eBike out there that is foldable, small, compact, durable, and that can be fitted inside a backpack? The Smacircle S1 is an amazing eBike able to carry you to your work and back, and once you arrive at your destination you can just fold it and put it in your backpack.
The Smacircle S1 isn’t just another eBike. The cute bicycle is made out of carbon fiber and weighs in at just 15.4lbs. Carbon fiber chassis makes the bike rugged and durable, resistant to impacts, but at the same time so light you won’t even notice it while packed and carried on your back.
The bike looks exactly like it came from the movie Tron. The colors, circles all around, and the general design all look like being taken from the future and brought back to present day. Although the bike looks like it could crack in two if a grown up sits on it, it is quite the opposite. The Smacircle S1 can carry a weight up to 220lbs/ 100kg.
The tiny urban commuter can be folded in just five steps, and its tiny chassis makes the ride through densely populated streets a real joy. You can easily ride between cars, slalom your way out of traffic jams, and arrive at your destination faster than all those people trying to bust their way out of horrible traffic with their huge cars. Also, if you use metro, just pick the bike up and put it in your backpack, and once you exit the station just unfold it and speed your way to the job. As makers of the Smacircle S1 stated, the bike “is perfect for those city commutes too far to walk, but too close to drive.”
The eBike can achieve a max speed of 12.4mph, not exactly a neck breaking speed but more than enough for those who do not want to walk or drive a car. The small tires are smooth and solid, so there’s no worry about getting them punctured. They allow riding the bike on uneven roads since they offer damping capabilities. The bike also features electronic brakes, a bright blue safety light, and adjustable handlebar and saddle so you can fit it perfectly.
The battery inside the Smacircle S1 is made by Samsung and it is capable of powering the bike for up to 12 miles before needing a charge (you can buy an extra battery for $129). Once plugged, it will fully charge in 2.5 hours. The bike is equipped with a phone holder and a USB charger so you can charge your phone while on the go. And a companion mobile app allows you to lock the bike, monitor the speed and battery life, and to adjust the safety light.
The Smacircle S1 is available on IndieGoGo market for $649 (that’s 56 percent off the retail price) and if you pre-order one you’ll also receive a free backpack. The eBike should start ship in January 2018. Make sure to check out Tern Vektron, Trafecta DRT, the Impossible folding bike, and UrbaNext e-bike wheel too.
