SMOBOT is a Robot That Controls the Temperature of Your Perfect Barbeque

If you want to grill a great home-made steak there are lots of factors that you need to take into an account. You need to buy the great cuts meat, season them and cook them. And of course, you need to take care of the fire and charcoal. If you have Kamado-style smoker you know that your steak will be cooked slowly with a need to control and adjust the temperature inside. You can control the temperature yourself by frequently monitoring and ventilating it.

Or you can trust the SMOBOT. It is a robotic damper system that attaches to the top vent of Kamado style smokers. It controls the temperature inside the smoker by ventilating the top vent when needed.

The SMOBOT consists of four elements: temperature controller, the robot, and a damper. Just attach the high-temperature thermocouple to the smoker, close the damper and set up the desired temperature in a robot mechanism. The robot connects to your smartphone via WiFi. It synchronizes with the cloud app which shows you the history of your past cooking temperatures, cooking times and more. Once the temperatures get higher or lower than needed, it will alert you and automatically adjust the airflow.

The robot controls the temperature by natural draw through the top damper. You can also use the bottom damper for additional air ventilation if you think it is necessary. The smoker cooks just the way it is supposed to cook, while the robot maintains the rest.

SMOBOT currently works with the following smokers:

  • Big Green Egg:- S / M / L / XL and MiniMax
  • Kamado Joe: Classic, Big Joe, Junior
  • Primo Grills: All Models
  • Grill Dome: Infinity XL (probably others, but not yet verified)
  • Saffire
  • Monolith
  • The Bastard
  • Royal Kamado

SMOBOT runs on rechargeable 5V DC power with a standard micro-USB socket. As for the battery life, it runs for at least 10 hours for every 1000 mah (milliamp-hours) of capacity your battery.
